The Acting President of Venezuela, Delcy Rodriguez, highlighted the historical difference between those who surrendered energy resources and those, like President Nicolas Maduro, who defend oil for the exclusive benefit of Venezuelans.

Rodriguez reaffirmed that the true nationalization of the oil industry was the work of Commander Hugo Chavez, who rescued the resource from foreign hands.
In this regard, she denounced the 1976 nationalization as “sham,” since it was based on marketing contracts and technological dependence that only benefited transnational corporations.
She asserted that this policy of sovereign defense is now led by President Nicolas Maduro, guaranteeing that the exploitation of resources serves national development.
She stated that, thanks to this model, Venezuela has achieved 19 consecutive quarters of economic growth, leading the region by 2025 and reaching a production of 1,200,000 barrels per day thanks to the efforts of PDVSA workers.
Before the end of 2025, the state-owned Petróleos de Venezuela (PDVSA) surpassed its production target for that year, reaching 1,200,000 barrels per day, as part of the Productive Independence Plan.
This achievement lays the groundwork for a sustained increase in production by 2026, stated Delcy Rodriguez.
This accomplishment occurred amidst a total and complete US blockade of all sanctioned oil tankers entering or leaving Venezuela, culminating in the seizure of a vessel transporting Venezuelan oil.
This was compounded by the kidnapping of President Nicolas Maduro and First Lady Cilia Flores during an unprecedented military operation.
National gasoline consumption in 2025
Acting President Delcy Rodriguez also reported that production levels have reached 99% of the country’s supply.
“Zero fuel imports. Not a single barrel of gasoline was imported for Venezuela,” she stated, adding that “all the gasoline supplied to the country was produced by our workers.”
In light of these results, the head of state declared: “We have achieved something unseen in a decade.”
Looking ahead to 2026, the state oil company is poised to increase its production, aiming to exceed the levels achieved the previous year.
These goals seek to guarantee the domestic supply of hydrocarbons, as well as generate revenue through exports.
